Type 1 Surge Protective Device for Direct Lightning Current Protection
JUTRION Type 1 surge protective device is designed for use in the main distribution cabinet or service entrance of low-voltage power distribution systems. It protects electrical equipment from direct lightning current and high-energy surge impacts, serving as the first stage of surge protection.
Product Advantages
This product uses a combined protection structure of gas discharge tube + metal oxide varistor (MOV).
It is tested with a standard 10/350μs lightning impulse current waveform and is specially designed for the LPZ0–LPZ1 incoming side of power distribution systems. It can withstand high-energy surge impacts at the direct lightning level, providing the first reliable lightning protection barrier for power distribution systems and effectively reducing the risk of damage to low-voltage distribution systems and downstream electrical equipment caused by lightning overvoltage.
It is suitable for 230/400V AC, 50/60Hz power systems and can be directly applied to TT, IT, TN-S, TN-C, and TN-C-S earthing systems. It can meet the installation requirements of most building, industrial, new energy, and public power distribution projects at home and abroad.
Key Features
- Long-term continuous maximum operating voltage resistance
- Mechanical indicator window / LED indicator showing SPD operating or fault status
- Fast response time, typically < 25 ns
- 10/350 μs direct lightning impulse current discharge capability, with common values of 12.5 / 20 / 25 / 40 kA, determining the ability to withstand direct lightning currents.
FAQs
Q:What is the price of a Type 1 surge protective device?
A:The price of a Type 1 surge protective device depends on the pole configuration, Uc voltage, Iimp impulse current capacity, and whether remote signaling or certification is required. Please confirm the required specifications, such as 1P/2P/3P/4P, Uc 275V/320V/385V, and Iimp 12.5kA/25kA/40kA, so we can provide an accurate quotation.
Q:How is a Type 1 surge protective device installed?
A:The product is connected in parallel between the live conductors and the PE earthing bar to safely discharge direct lightning currents and high-energy surges into the earthing system. For better protection performance, the SPD should be installed as close as possible to the main switch and earthing bar.
Q:When is a Type 1 surge protective device not required?
A:Floor distribution boxes, workshop sub-distribution boards, and terminal equipment distribution boxes are generally suitable for JUU1-40 Type 2 SPD.
No overhead incoming line, the whole power supply is through underground cables, and there is no risk of direct lightning intrusion.
Grounding failure, insufficient earth wire size, or no main equipotential bonding. In these cases, Type 1 SPD cannot be installed, as it may easily cause electric shock or cabinet electrification risks.
Small mini distribution boxes with poor heat dissipation, no circuit breaker in the circuit, or no upstream backup protection.
