Recently, in the "10,000-mu, 100-billion-yuan" new industrial platform located in Beibaixiang Town, Yueqing City, Wenzhou, a group of manufacturing enterprises have reached a consensus to combine products, production methods with artificial intelligence to develop new quality productivity.
At present, with the rise in factor costs and the tightening of resource constraints, the comparative advantages of traditional industries are gradually disappearing. Yueqing is home to the first electrical industry cluster in the Wenzhou-Taizhou region with an annual output value of over 100 billion yuan. It is a national advanced manufacturing cluster and is expected to achieve a total output value of 178 billion yuan in 2024. The stimulation and reshaping of the manufacturing industry by artificial intelligence have enabled the electrical industry in Yueqing to see development opportunities. In 2025, Yueqing City's "Artificial Intelligence Empowering Manufacturing (Intelligent Electrical) Pilot" was selected into the first batch of artificial intelligence empowering manufacturing pilot list in Zhejiang Province. The local authorities have initiated the establishment of the Yueqing City Artificial Intelligence Empowerment Manufacturing Industry Cooperation Alliance, promoting the construction of an artificial intelligence empowerment system. This initiative aims to introduce technologies to enterprises, enhance collaboration, and strengthen supporting facilities, guiding industries to embrace the application of new artificial intelligence technologies. From January to August 2025, the added value of industrial enterprises above designated size in Yueqing reached 30.786 billion yuan, increasing by 9.1% year-on-year, which was 2.1 percentage points higher than the provincial average.
To address the challenges of high transformation costs and weak trial-and-error capabilities faced by small and micro enterprises, Yueqing has developed an intelligent electrical industry brain in response to the common demands for collaborative digital transformation among the upstream and downstream of the low-voltage electrical industry chain. It has also developed a product master data management platform around six common scenarios: order management, warehouse management, barcode management, and planning and scheduling. A total of 95 product categories in 8 product series, including low-voltage electrical appliances, automotive electrical appliances, and building electrical appliances, have been sorted out, and an open and shared linkage system has been established. A certain fastener company in Zhejiang Province selected 10 renovation projects at one go, achieving a 22% reduction in enterprise operating costs, a 28% increase in production efficiency, and an 8% improvement in energy utilization rate. At present, this model has benefited 143 enterprises in Yueqing.
